Chippewa Creek Falls Guide
Chippewa Creek Falls Area
When visitors are asked what they think of when you mention the Brecksville Reservation, they always say the Chippewa Creek Falls.
The Chippewa Creek Falls are comprised of the upper and lower falls. Both can be observed via the Chippewa Creek Gorge Scenic Overlook.
The (Upper) Chippewa Creek Falls is a beautiful and peaceful fall about 15 feet in height, with a crest reaching 10 – 15 feet. When it rains, it becomes a raging waterfall that can cause a spectacular event to watch. Some even compare it to the waterfalls in the Oregon and Washington regions. At one point, visitors used Chippewa Creek from the falls for kayaking, swimming, and cliff jumping, but it is now illegal to go into the falls or creek.
The Lower Chippewa Creek Falls is several hundred feet downstream from Chippewa Creek Falls and can be viewed during your hike on the Gorge Loop Trail. During the summer, it looks more like a moving creek, but during rainfall or during the spring and fall months, it has a crest of up to 15 feet. Visitors often compare this waterfall to what can be seen in West Virginia or Colorado.
